Marathon Great Felix Limo Retires

For more than a decade, Kenyan runner Felix Limo was a serious force to be reckoned with on the world stage. After all, in 2004, Limo, ran the fastest marathon in the world that year. He also set a new world record for 15K on the roads.

But now the 32-year-old Limo has decided to hang up his flats and retire.

His decision was influenced by his struggles with injury.

“At the end of last year, I had some tough decisions to make. I had some back problems which meant I could not train as well as I would have liked, which lead to me dropping out of the Toronto Marathon last October,” Limo said.

“In fact, I have had back problems for a number of years. They have never been serious but were the reason why I also dropped out of the Chicago Marathon in 2007 and they have become a little worse in recent years.”
