Looking Back At Boston: Interview With Ryan Hall
Bob Babbitt catches up with Ryan Hall following the 2014 Boston Marathon.
At this year’s Boston Marathon, Ryan Hall had a disappointing day, finishing 20th in 2:17:50. Hall, who placed fourth in the 2011 race, running 2:04:58, the fastest time ever recorded at Boston by an American, finished his first 26.2-mile race since the Olympic Trials in 2012. During the race, Hall says he worked with the other elite American runners to prevent some of the top Africans from giving chase to eventual champion Meb Keflezighi, who broke away from the main pack less than 10 miles into the race.
Hall recently went on Competitor Radio with Bob Babbitt and discussed this year’s Boston Marathon, some of the strategies that were taking place within the men’s elite pace, his health, recent training in Ethiopia and future ambitions.

“I felt kinda bad, I felt like I was bossing people around a bit out there to be honest and that didn’t feel quite right cause they’re running their own race too and they want to run well and do these things,” Hall explained to Bob Babbitt recently on Competitor Radio. “So I was pumped when I heard about the results and most of the American guys ended up running personal bests or running really well, so I was glad it not only worked out for Meb, but it worked out for most Americans.”
