Lewy Boulet Looking Toward London

U.S. Olympian using this weekend’s Chicago Marathon as a stepping stone to Olympic redemption.

Magdalena Lewy Boulet surprised more than a few people when she made the 2008 U.S. Olympic team in the marathon, but a freak knee injury just before the start of the race in Beijing forced her to drop out at the 10-mile mark. In the two years since that unfortunate incident, however, Lewy Boulet has solidified herself as one of the top female marathoners in the United States, breaking the 2 hour and 30 minute barrier earlier this year in Rotterdam, running 2:26:22, a time she hopes to better on Sunday when she lines up for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

The fourth-fastest U.S. female marathoner in history, the 36-year-old Lewy Boulet is using this weekend’s race as a stepping stone back to the Olympic Games, where she hopes to reverse the bad luck that haunted her two years ago.

“I would like a little redemption,” Lewy Boulet said.
