Injured Kenyans won’t run in the Big Apple.
Two-time New York City Marathon champion Martin Lel and four-time Boston Marathon winner Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot have pulled out of the ING New York City Marathon on November 7 due to injury.
Cheruiyot, the runner up in the Big Apple last year, and Lel, who also pulled out of last month’s Great North Run, were part of the most competitive field in the race’s history, which includes defending champion Meb Keflezighi of the United States and marathon world-record holder Haile Gebreselassie of Ethiopia.
