Koll Joins Oregon Track Club Elite

Recent Iowa State graduate will be coached by Jerry Schumacher.

Lisa Koll, who last month made her professional road racing debut a memorable one by capturing a U.S. road racing championship in winning the Bix 7 in Davenport, Iowa, is reported to have joined the Oregon Track Club Elite team in Portland, Oregon under the guidance of coach Jerry Schumacher.

Shalane Flanagan, the U.S. 5,000-meter record holder who trains with Schumacher’s group, posted to her Twitter feed on Monday that she’s ” WICKED excited to announce that we have a new member joining our group…..I have another pony tail to run with!!!” Later, and more definitively she tweeted, “My new partner in crime is Lisa Koll!!”

Stubbs Management, the organization that represents Koll, seemed to confirm Flanagan’s tweets, posting: “Guess it’s hard to keep info under wraps in age of Twitter. Lisa Koll will join Jerry Schumacher’s group in PDX.”

After winning Bix, Koll returned to the track in Europe, running a personal best of 14:55 in the 5,000 meters in Paris last month.
