Keflezighi Feared Feds Eyed Him After Boston

Security officials gave him a hard time in the wake of the marathon bombings.

Even though he’s an American Olympic silver medalist and won the prestigious New York City Marathon, Meb Keflezighi can escape racial profiling.

After the tragic bombings at the finish line of this year’s Boston Marathon on April 15, the Eritrean-born Keflezighi said that after he arrived at Boston’s Logan airport, security seemed to take a longer time reviewing his documents.

“When I got to the airport to the security, I felt all eyes were on me,” he told USA Today.

Keflezighi then said that he was asked where he lived and he responded “Mammoth Lakes,” which didn’t seem to register with the security officials. At that point, officials from the FBI showed up and began to look him over.

But all was made good when other people in line recognized the American runner and began to ask him for his autograph.
