Kasey Kahne: NASCAR Driver And Runner
The 33-year-old stays fresh and focused during the season by going for runs
Kasey Kahne, a driver on NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series, isn’t just a driver.
He’s also a runner.
The 33-year-old Washington native recently told Runner’s World he enjoys getting in a run when he’s not working his dayjob as a top-level driver.
And with a big race coming up this weekend in Michigan, Kahne said running helps him stay focused as he fights for a position in the Chase for the Sprint Cup before the season officially comes to a close.
“I really think it helps for the Chase because I feel better at the end of the season,” Kahne said. “When it’s all said and done, I still feel motivated, not completely drained and worn out.”
Kahne said running has helped guide him through this season, in which he’s piled on two wins and seven top-5 results.
“I remember the first couple years I was in the Cup Series, by the time we got to Homestead at the end of the year, I was so happy for the season to be over,” Kahne said. “Probably the last two years really, I’ve been wishing it went a couple more races. I think a lot of that has to do with running, the physical work that I put in each year.”
