The Kenyan is dominating the cross-country races in Spain currently.

World cross-country champion Joseph Ebuya made his win look easy in Amorebieta, Spain last Sunday. The Kenyan’s margin of victory in the 57th Cross Internacional Zornotza was a full 40 seconds over the second-place finisher, Vincent Chepkok. His win on Sunday marks the third consecutive cross-country victory for Ebuya on Spanish soil.

Just a minute into the race, Ebuya took charge, surging to the front. Kenyan runners took the next four finishing spots in the race that was held in rainy weather.

“Today I’m enormously happy as I consider Amorebieta as one of the top cross country races in the world and I managed to win today for the first time,” said Ebuya. “The line-up assembled was of the highest quality and so I decided to push hard from the beginning. I now have the world title and the Amorebieta win, I feel like a Grand-Slam victor.”

The winner of the women’s event was also a Kenyan. Pauline Korikwiang fended off rival Doris Changeiywo in the final 300 meters of the 6.2K race.
