Jordan Hasay Commits To 10,000m

She's turning heads at the classic distance race.

She’s turning heads at the classic distance race.

The University of Oregon’s Jordan Hasay was once a 1500m runner.

Not so anymore.

But before Hasay does anything else on the track, it’s worth noting that she recently won the middle-distance race at the Pepsi Team Invitational.

However, she now says it’s time to race some longer races.

“We’re going all in with the 10k,” she said recently.

At the March 29 Stanford Cardinal Invite, Hasay ran the 10k in 32:46.68. She’s a senior at Oregon and that was the fastest time for a collegiate women’s athlete this year.

Also worth mentioning is the fact that Hasay’s time is the second fastest in history at the school. The top mark belongs to Kathy Hayes, who clocked a 32:43.81 in 1984.

“It was a very controlled effort I would say,” Hasay said of her race. “My fitness is a lot better than what I showed. I’m going to take a crack at the ‘A’ standard.”
