Jo Pavey Victorious At Great South Run

She will be going for her fifth Olympics.

Even though it’s been six years since she was victorious there, Britain’s Jo Pavey showed the world that she still has the talent to win the Bupa Great South Run.

The event, 10 miles, took place last weekend in England.

Pavey, 39 years old, clocked 53:01 for the win, taking it out hard with rivals Jess Coulson and Berhane Adere.

“I just thought I would go off at a reasonable pace and plug away,” Pavey said afterwards. “I tried not to take off too quickly. I like a flat course and this really suits me but the last two miles were very hard. That’s because you’re giving it your final effort as you can see the finish line in the distance ahead of you. They were hard but I knew what to expect.”

In the men’s race, Stephen Mokoka was the first to cross the finish line in 46:40.

The Kenyan dropped the hammer with just 250 meters left to go, defeating Ayad Lamdassem and Tariku Bekele.
