Jesse Owens’ Family Will Recieve Tribute In Berlin

2009 IAAF World Championships in AthleticsOwens won four gold medals at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin.

The USATF, IAAF and the Berlin Organizing Committee have combined resources to honor 1936 Olympic long  jump medalists Jesse Owens and Luz Long at the upcoming IAAF World Championships in Berlin. The families of the two Olympic medalists will present the medals to long jump participants in Berlin. Long gave advice to Owens during the competition in 1936 that helped keep him in the competition and later take the victory over Long. The families have been close ever since and will pay tribute to the two great men later this month.
