IAAF World Championships To Reach Record Viewership
Track and Field looks to be growing in popularity as a record 212 territories around the world will have the World Championships broadcast to them.
Thanks to a mix of effective marketing, exciting personalities (read: Usain Bolt) and growth in the popularity of track and field (who knew)?), a record high number of TV’s will have the ability to tune in to World Championship action this summer. Who wouldn’t want to see what the great Bolt will do next or if the Americans can reclaim the crown of sprinting capital of the world from Jamaica (besides most Americans)? Thanks to agreements by the IAAF in new markets such as sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian subcontinent, these story lines will reach millions of new eyeballs. Let’s hope some new stars emerge in Berlin to generate even greater excitement for 2010.
