How Much Running Is Too Much While Pregnant?

A long time ago, women were told by their doctors to avoid any form of running while pregnant.
Times have changed.
Nowadays, physicians are advising that expectant mothers are to continue some form of exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. This even includes running.

However, what is the limit for moms-to-be?
ABC 13 recently spoke to Doctor David Zepeda who says that he gets asked this question frequently. He says that as long as you are already fit, healthy, and used to running, it’s OK to keep doing it while pregnant.
“[It] really can’t hurt her baby,” he said. “The only thing that can really hurt her baby is if she had a fall, or really over-exerts herself for a long period of time. I’m not talking about a little short burst at the end of her run — that’s perfectly alright — but something very strenuous might be very harmful.”
Many experts caution runners who are entering their third trimester to monitor their heart rate and to stay hydrated.
