Oregon grad will race in New Zealand on February 26.
Galen Rupp, the second-fastest 10,000-meter man in U.S. history, will go after Chris Solinsky’s American Record of 26:59.60 on February 26 in a specially-staged event at QEII Stadium in New Zealand.
The race, dubbed the Supporters Club 10,000m, will be the last event of the meet. It was made possible by support from Nike and Supporters Club enthusiasts.
Rupp, whose 27:10.14 effort took place in the same race as Solinsky’s record last May at the Payton Jordan Invitational, pulled out of this past weekend’s Millrose Games 2-mile with a stomach bug.
