The competition at next week’s Medtronic Twin Cities Mile just got more fierce. According to a report on Running USA, four Olympians were added to the field.
Of them is New Zealand ace Nick Willis, the 2008 Olympics silver medalist in the 1500m event.
Also in the mix is Kenya’s Boaz Lalang, who made it to the semifinals at the 2008 Games.
On the women’s side is Nicole Sifuentes, who advanced to the women’s 1500m semifinal at the London Olympics. Australian steeplechaser Gen LaCaze is racing as well.
These Olympians join a strong contingent of Americans in the race. One of the pre-race favorites is defending champion Craig Miller.
Heather Kampf will also be there to defend the women’s title.
The Medtronic TC Mile is entering its ninth year. Competition begins May 9 with the Friends and Family Wave. It concludes with the women’s and the men’s elite races.
