Sixty-six-year-old Harold Jackson and his daughter, Sally Boles, have a special running connection. According to a story posted on the Orange County Register’s Web site, the two have run 100 marathons together in 38 states.
This may seem like a lot, but the duo isn’t finished yet. They want to run marathons in all 50 states.
Boyles has always been a runner. When she was just 8, she was already training with her father. That same year, they ran their first race together, a 5K.
Jackson has run races with each of his four children as well as a brother-in-law, nieces and nephews and children’s spouses.
“I believe I got each of them into running, and some went on to bigger and better things, and some dropped out,” he said. “But all were happy to have that accomplishment.”
Jackson had knee surgery in 2007 and thought he was done with running. However, that April he took part in the Boston Marathon. He’s run approximately 50 marathons since.
