Farah Targeting Fifth Bupa London 10K Road Title

He has been a force in the race since its founding five years ago.

Double-Olympic gold medalist Mo Farah has quite an impressive resume.

He wants to bolster it even more with his fifth consecutive victory at the 2013 Bupa London 10,000m on May 27.

The Somali-born Farah, who is a British citizen, has been a commanding presence since the race’s founding in 2008. In the inaugural edition he took third.

In 2009 and 2010 he set British records for the mark and established a course record three years ago (27:44).

This year’s race will be a good gauge of fitness for Farah, who is training for the IAAF World Championships in Moscow later this summer.

Farah is expected to squaring off against fellow British runner Scott Overall, who represented his country in the Olympic marathon.

The women’s field is spearheaded by Amy Whitehead, who is running her Bupa 10,000m debut.

Last month, the 34-year-old Whitehead took 13th in the London Marathon. Her primary competitor is Steph Twell, the former 1500m world junior champion.
