Frankly, from a distance it looks like a smear job.
The British television production company Blakeway Productions is apparently working on a program that will “investigate” the symbiotic relationships between two of the United Kingdom’s premier road races–the London Marathon and the Great North Run–and their affiliated charities. The producers apparently take issue with the fact that these events not only make money for these charities but also make money from them.
Where’s the crime? Who’s the victim? The charities? They enter into these partnerships voluntarily and certainly would not continue to the arrangements if they did not benefit from them. We are seeing yellow–as in the shade of a certain approach to journalism. Check out how this web report about the program under development misleadingly applies that the road races being attacked are under investigation by authorities, not an entertainment company.
