Donahue Wins Women’s Half Marathon In Arizona

SCOTTSDALE-TEMPE, Ariz. — Magdalena Donahue won the second Women’s Half Marathon Scottsdale-Tempe to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure® on Sunday with a time of 1 hour, 16 minutes, 37 seconds. Donahue was followed by runner-up Tia Accetta in 1:20:07, and Linsey Sandoval in third place (1:24:41). Donahue set a course record in addition to a Women’s Half Marathon Series record with the fastest finish time in series history.

“It was inspiring to see the motivation and strength of the women running this race. We’re thankful to the cities of Scottsdale and Tempe for supporting our beautiful course,” said Dawna Stone, president of Women’s Running Magazine and founder of the Women’s Half Marathon Series. “From the first finisher to the last, it’s amazing to see the celebratory spirit of our runners as they cross our finish line.”

The event also hosted the second Women’s Running Magazine 5K race. Jona Davis was the overall winner in 21:41 followed by Rebecca Kovacs (23:23) and Lindsay Fischer (23:56).

RILF (Runners in Lululemon Fashions) won the Team Category in the half-marathon distance with the fastest average runner time.NWLB (No Woman Left Behind) & Fresh Hair came in second and Las Sendras Run Bike Tri Club earned third in the Team Category. Friends 4 Fitness won the Largest Team Award with 47 members.

In addition to the exclusive 2-in-1 medal, half-marathon runners earned a digital medal to post and use on their social media outlets. The digital medal will allow finishers to share their accomplishment with all of their friends and family online.

Starting in charming Old Town Scottsdale and finishing in beautiful Tempe Beach Park, the scenic, walker-friendly course showcases Arizona at its finest. Runners experienced an incredibly scenic, flat and fast course for this point-to-point race. The race finished with an unforgettable street party in Tempe Beach Park.
