Desiree Davila To Run NYC Half

She's using it as an Olympic tune-up.

She’s using it as an Olympic tune-up.

It’s been several weeks since Desiree Davila secured a spot on the U.S. Olympic Marathon. During that time she’s enjoyed a nice break from hard training, but is now setting her sights on her next goal: the New York City Half Marathon in Manhattan on March 18.

The 28-year-old runner from the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project recently sat down with the Detroit Free Press for an interview.

She admitted that preparing for the NYC Half is a “daunting task”, but wanted to get motivated to work hard again. Davila, who was the runner up at last year’s Boston Marathon, has high hopes for doing well in New York. On whether or not she was going for time or place in March, she had this to say: “I think I can compete for a pretty decent place. We’ll kind of see how things will look as the training goes along and then find the balance between the two.”
