David Rudisha Confident Of 800m Record

Despite a recent loss, the Kenyan maintains his greatness.

Some Olympic experts contend that Kenya’s David Rudisha put forth, by far, the most impressive performance at this summer’s Games in London.

After all, in the 800m final, Rudisha ran 1:40.91 to become the first person to go under 1:41 for that distance.

At the time, Rudisha commented that breaking a world best isn’t an everyday occurence.

“Personally, I was not even expecting to break the world record in London because I did not have any pace makers,” he said. “My focus was on breaking the Olympic record and I was surprised to bring down the Olympic record, I was able to also set a new world record.”

But all has not been completely good for the seemingly unbeatable Kenyan. He recently lost in the 800m to Mohammed Aman of Ethiopia and blamed the elements.

“Winning the Olympic gold medal was more important because it comes only once in four years but the Diamond League is held annually,” he admitted. “Of course it was disappointing to lose to Aman in Zurich but on that day it suddenly rained and the weather got the better of me.”
