The pedometer just got really fancy.
Here’s another gadget for fitness enthusiasts: It’s called a NewYu. The device, so small it clips on to your belt or waistband, was showcased at the IDEA World Fitness Convention in Los Angeles this week. According to its August 11 release announcement, the device “monitors your every move, from running to washing dishes, to provide a ‘more accurate’ reading on how many calories you’re really burning in a day.”
The gadget comes with a free Android application that lets users synch data from their monitor to an online dashboard via Bluetooth or USB cable.
With the online dashboard, users can track fitness trends and progress against pre-determined goals. Other features include detailing the number of steps and displaying the number of calories burned vs. calories consumed.
The device will retail for $99.99 and will be for sale on the company’s Web site as well as through Best Buy and Amazon.com
Those interested in the device and pre-order it through the company’s Web site.
