Chicago Marathon Announces Stellar Field

2008 Olympic gold medalist added to list of contenders.
The 2009 Bank of America Chicago Marathon has announced that 2008 Olympic gold medalist Sammy Wanjiru of Kenya will battle for this year’s title. Wanjiru has a personal best of 2:05:10 from London this year and is the current world record holder in the half marathon with a time of 58:33. Wanjiru sets his sights on a new personal in Chicago and a potential race towards a new world record.
Wanjiru will not be alone, as he will join compatriots Evans Cheruiyot, 2008 Chicago champion, and Patrick Ivuti, 2007 Chicago champion. Cheruiyot set his personal best of 2:06:25 in this race last year and Ivuti has his personal best of 2:07:46 from the 2005 Chicago race.
