When one thinks of celebrities, one usually conjures up images of six-figure wardrobes and fancy shoes. But this stereotype apparently isn’t true anymore. According to a report posted on the Daily Mail Web site, more and more celebrities are turning to workout shoes made by Vibram like the Five Fingers brand.

Lost in Translation star Scarlett Johansson likes to wear a pink version of them when she runs.

According to Footwear News’ Readers’ Choice poll, readers voted the five-toed minimalist shoe to be the most influential piece of footwear this past year and predict even bigger things next year for the trend.

The Five Fingers brand initially gained popularity after the release of Christopher McDougall’s New York Times bestseller, Born to Run, which encourages readers to either take off shoes entirely or reduce the amount of cushion worn.

Another celebrity seen wearing the shoes is Golden-Globe-winning actress Kate Hudson who starred in the 2000 musical-comedy drama, Almost Famous.
