The rain was coming down in sheets and making the trails of Catalina Island a total, unadulterated mess. Because of the unrelenting rain, the race crew for the Catalina Eco Marathon spent all of Friday evening November 11th creating a new race course that was safe, but still challenging. Race day this past Saturday featured scattered showers, cool temperatures, high winds and white-out fog. But no one ever said that trail runners are anything but tough, resilient and adventurous. The new course still featured the spectacular views that have made events on Catalina Island such a huge draw.
The overall winners were Patrick Baldwin in 2:47:54 and Sarah Lewis in 3:35:47. Renowned photographer Rich Cruse spent the day on the course capturing images of the day.
