Can Los Angeles Host The 2024 Olympics?

It will come down to money.

It will come down to money.

With multiple large-venue stadiums, Los Angeles is quite capable of hosting another Olympics. The city played host to the 1932 and 1984 Summer Games.

“L.A. is the one place in the world that is always ready to host,” International Olympic Committee member and Los Angeles resident Anita DeFrantz said. “It’s a city that loves sports.”

That being said, is it possible for the city to land the 2024 Games? Organizers will have to negotiate many challenges in order to pull it off.

“It’s going to be tricky,” said Robert Livingstone of “They have obstacles to overcome.”

At the top of the list is money.

The USOC recently sent out feelers to 35 American cities. They indicated that the total cost could exceed $3 billion. London’s games last year had a heavy price tag of $15 billion.

In order to make it happen, Los Angles would have to seek private donations for its bid effort. That’s what happened the last time the “City of Angels” hosted the Games.
