Cal Baptist XC Team Involved In Crash
Three are killed in fiery wreck on Monday night.
Members of the California Baptist University cross country team on their way to the town of Mammoth Lakes for a week of altitude training were involved in a fiery crash outside the town of Bishop late Monday night. The California Highway Patrol reports that three people were killed in the accident and another dozen were injured.
Local authorities are reporting that an SUV crossed the highway center median and hit one of the three white team vans head-on. Flames ensued, killing three–including Cal Baptist cheerleading coach Wendy Rice, who was driving the van and volunteering her time to drive members of the team to their pre-season training camp. Two passengers traveling in the SUV were also killed.
The cause of the accident has yet to be determined.
