Anna Bretan has been enjoying a phenomenal road racing season this year.
According to a report on Berkeleyside.com, Bretan won the inaugural edition of the Berkeley Half Marathon last weekend. Bretan, a resident of that Bay Area city, clocked 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 19 seconds for the 13.1-mile race.
Earlier this year, she won the San Francisco Marathon.
Magdalena Lewy Boulet was second in 1:18:58.
UC Berkeley student JP Slater was the men’s champion in the race. His winning time was 1:07:05. Jorge Maravilla came in second in 1:09:31.
The Berkeley running event was comprised of three races: a half marathon, a “Bearable” 10-mile race, and a 10K.
The event drew nearly 8,000 competitors spread across the three races. Over $50,000 was raised for charities such as the Berkeley Public Schools Fund, Berkeley Partners for Parks, and the Berkeley Food and Housing Project.
