For Massachusetts residents, a “Boston Strong” license plate could be coming soon to a DMV near you.
The House unanimously approved a bill that would allow residents of the state to purchase the vanity plate, from which a portion of the proceeds would go to the One Fund Boston — a charity that helps the victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and their families.
According to Boston.com, the plate would cost at least $50. The immediate families of the three victims who died in the bombing would receive one free plate. More than 260 other people were injured in the two blasts, which occurred near the finish line of the iconic, 26.2-mile journey from Hopkinton to Boston.
The bill must be approved by the State Senate before Governor Deval Patrick signs it into law.
