Big Names Line Up For NYC Half Marathon

Three of the top women distance runners in history will square off in August.

Norwegian Lornah Kiplagat, Kenyan Catherine “The Great” Ndereba and American Deena Kastor will face off at the New York City Half Marathon on August 16th.  This will mark the fourth time these three have toed the line of the same race, and the first since the 2006 NYC Marathon. Ndereba, the defending champion, will likely be the favorite as she is the only one of the three to stay healthy throughout 2009.  All three women are heading into the later part of their careers but none of them has slowed down yet, so the competition should be intense.
