Berlin Named Marathon Of The Decade

With six world records in ten years, is there any doubt Berlin is supreme?
AIMS, the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races, has given the real Berlin Marathon its first “Marathon of the Decade” award. Since 1998 six world records have been set in Berlin, including the current men’s record of 2:03:59 by Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie in 2008.
AIMS also took into account other criteria, such as number of participants, of which Berlin averages 35,000, ranking it second in the world. New York leads that category with a planned 45,000 participants this November.
