B.A.A. Donates $250K To The OneFund

Thus far, $28 million has been raised for the charity.

The Boston Athletic Association, the Boston Marathon’s governing body, is stepping up to help out victims of last month’s tragic bombing.

The assistance is coming in the form of a large check, $250,000, written out to the TheOneFundBoston, which was formed to help victims of the tragedy.

“We express our deepest gratitude to the B.A.A.’s 1,300 medical personnel, 7,200 volunteers, and organizing committee, along with the City of Boston’s first responders, who reacted quickly and courageously to save lives,” said B.A.A. president Joanne Flamino. “Their tireless efforts and their dedication remains with us as we begin to move forward.  Our thoughts continue to be with the victims, all of those injured, and their families.”

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino announced the formation of the charity. The far $28 million has been raised by individuals and organizations.

The Boston Marathon, the world’s oldest modern marathon, took place on April 15.
