Austin, Texas Running Store Gets Evicted
Unpaid taxes are to blame.

A staple in the Austin, Texas running community has been forced to close its doors because of money woes.
RunTex, a local running shop that has two locations in the city, lost the original of its two stores over unpaid rent. The landlord filed an eviction notice last week and Travis County Precinct 5 deputy constables went to the store to seize enough property to cover the $150,000 bill.
The store was actually slated to close in another month to make way for a mixed-use building with apartments and retail, but owner Paul Carrozza did not expect to be closed at this point.
“This breaks my heart,” Carrozza told the Austin Statesman. “I expanded a few years back and that created a lot of stress for us. It was a big mistake.”
Carrozza will main his other store in West Austin. He hopes to re-open another location in downtown Austin in the future.
