Now’s your chance to run where no other American has run.
According to a press release on the Market Watch Web site, American runners are being afforded a rare opportunity: for the first time ever, it is possible to race in the Havana Marathon (Marabana Marathon) that is taking place on November 20.
The touring company, Insight Cuba, has put together a package that lasts five days and concludes with the 26.2-mile race that winds through the scenic parts of the Cuban capital that includes the famous Malecon, Old Havana, the historic Hotel Nacional, and Revolution Square.
Established in 1987, the Havana Marathon attracts an international crowd. It is considered one of the Caribbean’s premier sporting events.
The cost for this opportunity is nearly $2000 for double occupancy and includes five-star accommodations, marathon entry fee, and in-country transportation.
Along with the marathon, runners will take part in meetings with the Cuban runners association and disabled athletes. They will also tour the ministry of sports and visit a local school.
