American Relays Hope To Rebound
After a dismal showing in Beijing, new leadership should change tide.
It was like a bad dream as American fans watched both their men’s and women’s 4x100m relay teams drop batons in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. A year later, newly appointed Director of Sport Performance Benita Fitzgerald Mosley vows the issues that plagued the Americans in Beijing are in the past.
Leading up to the 2009 IAAF World Championships in Berlin, the relay pools will be announced well in advance, unlike in 2008, and a more dedicated training camp will get the athletes prepared for success on the world stage.
