Des Linden, Jordan Hasay & Sarah Sellers Heading To The 2019 Boston Marathon

This morning, John Hancock and the Boston Athletic Association announced the American elite field for next spring’s Boston Marathon which will be held on April 15, 2019. Twenty nine U.S. pros will compete alongside the international field (which has yet to be announced) for a chance to don the coveted olive wreath on Patriots’ Day.

Defending champion Desiree Linden and runner-up Sarah Sellers will headline the women’s open division and will be joined by Jordan Hasay who set the fastest American debut of all time on the course.

Elites Sara Hall, the 2017 U.S. National Marathon champion; Lindsay Flanagan, the 2015 Pan-American Games Marathon silver medalist; 2013 California International Marathon winner Becky Wade; and Sarah Crouch, the top American at the 2018 Bank of America Chicago Marathon will also head to Hopkinton street on Marathon Monday.

In the men’s open field, this year’s third place finisher Shadrack Biwott will go head-to-head against three-time Olympian and third fastest U.S. marathoner of all time Dathan Ritzenhein; Jared Ward, sixth place finisher at the 2016 Olympic Marathon; and four-time Olympian Abdi Abdirahman.

Five-time winner and reigning champion Tatyana McFadden will return in the women’s wheelchair division and will compete alongside recent runner-ups Susannah Scaroni and Amanda McGrory, as well as L.A. Marathon champion Michelle Wheeler.

This year’s TCS New York City Marathon and Bank of America Chicago Marathon wheelchair winner Daniel Romanchuk will be joined by Joshua George, an 11-time Boston Marathon finisher and 4-time Paralympian; and Krige Schabort, a six-time Paralympian and two-time Paralympic medalist in the marathon.
