About 14,000 of the applicants will receive good news this week.
The New York Road Runners announced that 14,326 lottery applicants will be selected to run in the 2015 New York City Marathon, a sizable increase over the 9,170 accepted in 2014.
In total, 80,080 runners applied for the 2015 lottery, which means about 18 percent will be accepted. The drawing will begin on Tuesday morning, and all applicants will be notified of their status via email by the end of the day.
Between non-guaranteed and guaranteed applicants, more than 130,000 runners applied to run this year’s race. Officials say that the size of the field will be similar to last year’s, which had 50,530 runners participate.
The 2015 New York City Marathon will take place on Nov. 1.
