There’s no doubt that the “Happiest Place on Earth,” Walt Disney World, is one of the happiest places for runners to tackle the marathon. According to a report posted on Running USA, the 2014 edition of the Walt Disney Marathon is now officially sold out.
The race reached its capacity in under fourth months. Apparently, this makes the 2014 edition one of the fastest sellouts in race history — last year’s race sold out in five months.
A total of 13,500 runners will run the 26.2-mile distance, while a total of 26,000 will comprise the entire Disney Marathon Weekend that comprises other events.
For the first time in event history, the “weekend” will last five days with the following races: 5K, 10K, marathon, half-marathon, and Dopey Challenge, which is running all events.
The fun begins on Jan. 8 and concludes on Jan. 12 with a “cool down” parry.
In addition, the Epcot park offers a Family 5K on Thursday, January 9.
