The Moab Red Hot 55K and 33K trail races took place on Saturday northwest of Moab, Utah, just west of Arches National Park. The course, which starts at the Gemini Bridges trailhead, features incredible views of the La Sal Mountains to the southeast and breathtaking views of Canyonlands National Park to the west.
Alex Nichols of Colorado Springs won the men’s 55K in 3:57:11, only two minutes ahead of runner-up Paul Hamilton (3:59:37). Mike Foote of Missoula, Montana was third in 4:07:26. In the women’s 55K, Jodee Adams-Moore was victorious in in 4:31:28. Kerrie Bruxvoort was second in 4:42:39 while Hillary Allen finished third (4:52:01).
In the accompanying 33K, Justin Ricks (2:07:54) out-dueled Jordan McDougal (2:08:47) for the win. Jared Scott took third in 2:12:31. Megan Kimmel won the women’s race in 2:30:48, nearly five minutes ahead of second-place finisher Maria Dalzot (2:35:16). Brandy Erholtz was third in 2:35:43.
