2015 Audi Power of Four Trail

The 50K and Vertical were part of the US Skyrunner Series and the 50K was the US Skyrunning Continental Championship

Skyrunning is a term that refers to a series hardcore running races held at high-altitude locations around the world and, as you might expect, it leaves even the best runners gasping for air. The Skyrunning series returned to Aspen, Colo., the weekend of July 18-19 for the first time since 1998, with the third edition of the demanding Audi Power of Four Trail 50K race, a slightly easier but still difficult 25K race and a grueling Vertical K time trial event. The 50K was a stout, quad-burning affair that sent runners up and down Aspen’s four ski mountains, while the Vertical K was a steep grind up Ajax Mountain that left runners in hands-on-knees exhaustion. For the 2015 event, the 50K was part of the US Skyrunner Series and also served as the US Skyrunning Continental Championship. As if the courses weren’t debilitating enough, wet weather from intermittent rain showers added to the challenging conditions.
