Meb Shares Finish Line Moment With Elite Amateur

A display of sportsmanship by the fan favorite.

Those watching the Boston Marathon on Monday undoubtedly noticed American fan favorite Meb Keflezighi crossing the finish line in 8th place—and doing so with a memorable gesture of sportsmanship.

Keflezighi happened to cross around the same time as Hillary Dionne, an elite amateur runner who finished the elite women’s race in 15th place in a time of 2:40:42. Meb grabbed Dionne’s hand as they crossed the finish line and thrust it in the air, providing a memorable moment for both.

Dionne tweeted afterward, “Not my best time, but by far my most memorable finish. Thanks amazing @runmeb for joining me across the line, an unforgettable moment!”

Dionne was a part of the elite amateur panel that took part in a press gathering at Tracksmith headquarters just a few days earlier. Here’s more about her—and the finish-line moment.
