2015 NYC Marathon Entry Process Begins in January

There are several ways to earn a ticket to the Big Apple next November.

The New York Road Runners announced Monday the application period for the 2015 New York City Marathon will begin Jan. 15.

The 45th edition of the race is scheduled for Nov. 1, 2015.

There are several avenues runners can take if they want to either gain guaranteed entry into the race or try to earn a bib through a lottery.

From Jan. 15-Feb. 15, runners can gain guaranteed entry through qualifying times; if they elected to run the 2015 NYC Marathon after the 2012 race was canceled due to Hurricane Sandy; NYRR members who meet several requirements; runners who canceled their 2014 entry; and runners who have completed 15 NYC Marathons.

Runners who do not meet any of those eligibility factors can also gain entry through the lottery, which involves three drawings in March.

The NYRR is also also offering 60 guaranteed slots through a sweepstakes that runs through Dec. 18. Winners will be chosen at random no later than Jan. 7.
